The Hope Group is an ethical AI lab in Boston, founded in 2021 by Rev. Christopher Hope. The lab designs and builds software that protects privacy, audits for bias, and keeps people in control, including Project Lookout, a patent pending platform that finds and ranks funding and contract opportunities for small businesses and city partners, and Driftwood, an open source design research platform for running software betas. It also provides AI training and technical assistance to small businesses, nonprofits, and public agencies. The Hope Group is the only City of Boston certified minority-owned AI business in Massachusetts, the preferred AI trainer for the Black Economic Council of Massachusetts, and an approved Commonwealth Corporation training provider. Its work has been recognized by U.S. Senator Ed Markey, the City of Cambridge, and the United Nations STI Forum.
