Civic AI Corps: apprentices embedded with small businesses

The Civic AI Access Lab proves the model one cohort at a time. The Civic AI Corps is what it becomes at scale: a standing corps of apprentices, recruited from Boston’s historically underserved neighborhoods, trained by the lab in practical AI and in The Hope Standard, credentialed, and then placed with small businesses for a term of service.

Think AmeriCorps, aimed at the AI transition. A corps member spends their term embedded with a handful of businesses, sitting beside the owner, automating the paperwork, building the tools, and teaching as they go, so the capacity stays in the business after the term ends. The businesses get help they could never afford to hire. The apprentices get paid experience, a portfolio of real deployments, and a credential that means something to the next employer.

The Corps builds on registered apprenticeship infrastructure Rev. Hope already runs through The Loop Lab, and on the curriculum, credentialing, and quality oversight the lab provides today.
